What Are Courses and How Are They Configured

In this article, we’ll cover the Courses submodule, from which you can continue configuring your trainings.

Introduction

If you’ve already gone through the Settings submodule and defined Categories, and optionally added Tags if needed, the next step in delivering a training is to go to the left-hand side menu, under Trainings, and select the Courses section.

A Course is the basic unit of a training. It is later divided into Editions, which in turn allow the creation of Classes, where students and instructors can be assigned. In this article, we’ll focus specifically on how to configure Courses.

Creating Courses

To create a new Course, click the “+ Add Course” button to open the “New Course” form, which includes the following fields:

  • Name (Required)
    Field type: Alphanumeric

  • Attribute selectors (Optional)
Divided into “Mandatory” and “Legal” – both are initially disabled
    Field type: Selector

  • Tags (Optional)
    Field type: Dropdown

  • Category (Required)
    Field type: Dropdown

  • Description (Optional)
    Field type: Paragraph

Course List

As in all lists, courses are shown in rows displaying: Name, Description, Editions, Mandatory, Legal, and Category, along with possible actions.

Actions

  • View Details (Blue eye) – This opens the course detail screen, displaying information such as:
“Creation date,” “Target hours,” “Completed hours,” “Completion rate,” “Editions,” “Legal,” and “Mandatory” at the top.
Below, you’ll see the list of editions, each with its own set of actions.
To create a new edition, click “+ Add Edition.”

  • Edit (Purple pencil) – Reopens the form we saw during course creation, now under the name “Edit Course”, allowing you to update any of the fields.

  • Enable/Disable (Green/Red toggle) – Used to move the course between the Active and Inactive sections in the course list.

Import

It’s worth noting that courses can also be imported—for convenience or bulk upload—using the “Import” button next to “+ Add Course.”
